    Fees: $750 including GST

    Marquetry in Contemporary Woodworking

The course will culminate in the completion of a contemporary style jewellery box or breakfast tray. Through these projects we hope that participants will begin to look at marquetry in a contemporary way.

    Areas covered will include:

  • The use of marquetry past and present
  • Appropriate selection of veneer to exploit decorative potential
  • Cutting techniques
  • Methods of assembly
  • Preparation of bases
  • Appropriate glues and techniques for pressing
  • Cleaning-up and finishing of panels.
  • Throughout the course the place of marquetry in contemporary woodworking will be discussed and debated.
