Richard started making things when he was a young boy and woodwork was his favorite subject at school. He went to Rycotewood College full time for 3 years. Then spent many years in London working at various furniture workshops including Martin Grierson's. He moved to Hampshire where he worked at The Edward Barnsley Workshop. Then started his own business which he ran for 8 years employing up to 5 people. The workshop focussed on making fine furniture and interiors for designers and architects such as Johnny Grey, James Codrington.
Moving to New Zealand was meant to be an OE with the wife and kids back in 2002 and still is. Richard has diversified his career into other areas including building. Teaching at Centre for Fine Woodworking is a perfect connection to a long history in the field.
